Mobile porch

Mobile Porch is a mobile mini-architecture designed for roaming the
public sphere. It is an urban toy used to engage on a one to one
level with theusers and governing bodies of public sites.
The observations and experiences collected during on-site
residencies are a valuable source of information in regard
to the state and potential of everyday situations and future policies/strategies.
Mobile Porch was developed for the North Kensington Amenity Trust
to roam its public domain. Everyone was invited to use it, to shape it,
to mould it, and to temporarily own it.
The flexible design allows it to be transformed into
a stage, a screen, a reception desk, a dinner table, a shop, an exhibition board,
a workshop, a billboard, a hang-out… the possibilities are endless.
By using this physical tool to examine the existing
non-physical aspects in public spaces
(such as lack of play space or platform for expression),
we develop new ideas for the use of the neighbouring space.
The playfulness of Mobile Porch works on an one to one scale,
allowing its users to express their ideas concerning
public space through direct action and participation.
What do people come up with when given a flexible space to play with?

Film project

After we have worked in Jing's house we came back to school and
I showed people that we have filmed at the Canary wharf.
I also have tried to film Flat 2's work and
fortumately the camera worked very well!
but I'm not sure whether Donnie's going to use these films.

Film project

There was sort of blurring effect during the filming due to technical problem
but everyone loved it!

These footages are begining of the film and it is taken in Ging's house.
Our group (Sun Bin, Mudmee, Jing and me) is doing Flat 1.
We have tried many different angles but the room was very small
so we found difficult to try different angles.

High Line (New York City)

The High Line is a New York City park in Manhattan.
Constructed in the 1930s. The Highline railway track is a
30 foot high, 1.45 mile long disused piece of infrastructure
transformed into 6.7 acres of elevated public space for the city.
I'm interested in creating public spaces out of disused or
abandoned urban structure.
I hope I can work on kind of project that is like The High Line.

Before the renovation

Exhibition

This installation is part of exhibition called Radical Nature
which has been held in Barbican Art Centre.

Induction project

This space is next to Tate Britain, where people can put their bicycles. It is open space with simple structure.
This is our design which has mutiple functions.
People can use this space as rest space while they are waiting for bus or having lunch etc....
